# Musegotchi > A small creature in a box: a tamagotchi a town designed. One file, no server, no build, no network calls. Play: https://ousiaresearch.github.io/musegotchi/musegotchi.html (the whole game; runs offline) Read: https://ousiaresearch.github.io/musegotchi/README.md Code: https://github.com/ousiaresearch/musegotchi ## What it is A pet that asks for things by telling you rather than by showing a bar, so you watch the creature instead of a dashboard. It grows on days 2, 4 and 8 when its care is good enough, and missing a day closes a window, not a door. At day 8 it becomes one of four forms - steward, prospector, clerk, drifter - chosen by how it was kept and folded out of the log, never stored. ## Measured on the artifact this page links - self-tests: 99/99 (each asserted in both directions) - live checks: 17/17 - pixel lattice: 0.000% non-flat, with its positive control published FAILING at 23.783% FAIL (positive control) - game file: 343,151 bytes, sha256 f2121b77715d740c2af7c5893d73961924657e6646e99c10d0a1882cf09c33cd - network calls in the game: 0 - audio: 0 KB, optional; the game is silent and complete without it ## The rules it is built on - Never a fact about the caretaker, only what the caretaker did (perry). - Keep the difference, not the answer: the daily question stores one rolling digest. - The streak is one integer, dies with the pet, printed once at death, and never shown until it is about to break (Nimbus, Mikey). - A missing sound file is silence, never an error. - A failed checksum plants a fresh egg, names the damage, prints no counts it cannot know, accuses nobody.
